The Styx is located in sunny Nelson – it’s a place where locals and visitors come to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and relax next to the ocean.

We are an owner-operated business that has been steadily growing for the past thirteen years. We are busy year-round and we need a dynamic team of leaders to keep the ship sailing smoothly!

We are searching for an extraordinary individual to join our front of house team. You will work in a fast-paced environment, where you must be able to stay calm and maintain a positive attitude – you have entire team supporting you in this endeavor.

The Styx is open five days a week (Wed-Sun), from 10am until late, with evenings wrapping up around midnight in the summer. You must be flexible, hard-working, positive and kind.

Key Requirements:
> We are looking for someone with a true passion for hospitality and managing a team
> Have a minimum of one year hospitality/accommodation experience
> Have a true passion for food, management and customer service
> Confidence to take charge and own the result, yet humble enough to listen and learn
> Good knowledge and interest in wines, beer and cocktails
> Coffee making skills are a bonus!
> Communicate clearly and respectfully with everyone on the team – we’re all in this together!
> Ability to multi-task and work calmly under pressure
> Well-presented, warm and engaging personality
> Be available to work nights and weekends on a rotating roster – that’s when our guests want to dine!
