Tongariro Crossing Lodge is a family-owned and operated boutique accommodation business in Waimarino (formerly National Park) village, with 12 guest suites. We take pride in providing every guest with a friendly, personal and high-quality experience during their stay. We’re a small, hands-on team where everyone plays an important part in creating a welcoming environment for our guests and maintaining the high standards of the lodge. We value people who take pride in their work, enjoy meeting travellers from around the world, and genuinely care about delivering excellent guest service.
We’re looking for a couple with professional hospitality and hotel experience to join our team at Tongariro Crossing Lodge.
This is a fixed-term position running from late September to mid-April, ideal for a couple with hotel, lodge or quality hospitality experience who enjoy working together, taking ownership and providing excellent guest service.
You’ll be based in Waimarino (formerly National Park Village), right in the heart of the Ruapehu Region, welcoming travellers from New Zealand and around the world.
What you’ll be doing
– Housekeeping and preparing guest rooms
– Preparing and serving breakfast
– Welcoming guests and managing check-ins/check-outs
– Handling bookings, emails and general administration
– Providing guests with local information and assisting with shuttle arrangements
– Preparing lunch packs
– Serving drinks and preparing bar snacks in our Garden Bar
– General lodge duties and basic maintenance
– Ensuring the lodge is presented to a high professional standard.
Who we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a professional couple with previous experience in a hotel, lodge, accommodation or similar hospitality environment.
You’ll need to:
– Be experienced in housekeeping and guest services, and passionate about providing excellent customer service to domestic and international tourists
– Have an excellent eye for detail when providing products and services to guests and be committed to maintaining high standards
– Be highly reliable, organised, friendly and well presented
– Have a valid New Zealand workpermit
– Have great verbal and written English language skills
– Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision
– Be comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions within the role.
This role suits a couple who are confident working independently and understand what is required to run and maintain a high-quality tourist accommodation property day to day.
