ABOUT THE ROLE

Cameron Orchards Ltd is part of the Cameron Family Group — a respected, diversified family business all on one site, located in Otamarakau, Bay of Plenty . This fixed-term role covers the heart of the growing season, working across 60 hectares of producing Hayward and Gold kiwifruit under the direction of the Orchard Manager and Supervisors.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

🌱 Spring (October – November)

●   Bud thinning & vine monitoring

●   Shoot thinning & tie-down — removing excess shoots and securing new growth to the wire to establish canopy structure

●   Summer pruning — trimming summer growth to maintain canopy shape and light penetration

●   Fruit thinning — removing excess fruit to size specification to achieve target fruit size and quality at harvest

●   Cane training — selecting, positioning, and securing the best new canes to the wire for the following season’s production

●   Vine maintenance — ongoing tying, tucking, and canopy management throughout the growing season

●   Health & Safety — following all H&S requirements, reporting near misses promptly, and participating in toolbox meetings

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

●   Physically fit, able to stand for long hours and reach up to 190cm and capable of sustained outdoor work across all seasonal conditions

●   Able to follow instructions clearly and complete tasks to the specification given — consistently

●   Reliable and punctual — the season depends on people showing up and following through

●   A positive attitude and willingness to work hard across all tasks, no matter the weather

●   Someone who looks out for their teammates and contributes to a great team environment

●   Prior experience in kiwifruit canopy work or horticulture preferred but not essential — attitude matters most

Current NZ driver’s licence preferred  |  NZ citizen or valid NZ work visa
