Are you mechanically minded and looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a manufacturing environment?

Our client is trying to fill a long-term need. So, this is not your usual work & travel job but for the right candidate may turn into an opportunity leading to a work visa. This will be decided on a case-by-case basis and heavily depend on experience, qualification and work performance.

We are seeking a Machine Operator & Setter to join a busy finishing division, operating and setting machinery such as slitting equipment. This is a hands-on role offering specific training for the right person.
The role initially involves machine operation for training purposes before progressing to a position focused on machine setting (80%) and machine operation (20%).

Previous machine setting experience and packaging background is highly desirable. However, applicants with strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.

What’s involved?
– Operating different finishing machinery, including slitting equipment
– Setting up and adjusting machines for production runs
– Monitoring machine performance and product quality
– Troubleshooting minor machine issues and making adjustments as required
– Completing machine changeovers and production documentation
– Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance
– Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment
– Working to production schedules and quality standards

What we’re looking for
– Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment (packaging / plastics beneficial)
– Machine setting experience highly desirable
– Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
– Good attention to detail and quality focus
– Reliable (including own transportation) and able to work independently
– Physically fit (lifting ~ 20kg)
– Strong communication skills
– Forklift licence advantageous but not essential
– Able to pass a drug test and criminal record check
– Right to work in New Zealand
