2011 Mazda Bongo, 219,XXXkms, 1.8L Petrol Automatic, JVC stereo, WOF 13/8/27, Registration 19/7/27, Self containment to 31/8/2030 (green sticker), 4 new tyres (only driven on for photos!), large canopy, roof racks and storage tube, solar power, inverter, house battery, fridge/freezer, sink, new unused toilet. Built using high-spec VanLab kitset finished in Birch plywood. Very reliable vehicle - never had any trouble with it at all.
Canopy:
The game changer – turning a small van into a large one with a huge covered outdoor area of 2.5m x 2.5m. Tough RMR brand canopy. Also has waterproof canvas velcroed to the van and the canopy rear to prevent leaks in the gap between the canopy and the van. Add a tarp easily to make a wall and give you more privacy.
Solar: Powertech 200W fold out solar panel has Anderson clips which are already attached to the house battery at one end. Simply clip the other end together and hang using the loops or place on the roof.
House Battery: Camec AGM deep cycle 120 A/H
Inverter: Dometic pure sine wave inverter 230V
Wiring
/Lighting/Fuses: LED lights all have their own switches on each light (using very low power) above rear vision mirror (connected to car battery), above side door opening, above rear kitchen, below step at side door. USB plug in UV light strips around ceiling. 2 x USB ports at the foot of the bed on both sides. Voltage Sensitive Relay switch, fuse board, circuit breakers all in house battery compartment. Voltage readouts for both car battery and house battery at the foot of the bed on driver's side. Master light switches at foot of bed on passenger side.
Body:
There are three heavy duty roof racks fitted across the van. Long 100mm screw top tube storage for flow toys, fishing rods, etc, or turn it into a hot outdoor shower with some black paint and a few fittings.

Interior layout:
Cab: one seat either side with storage in the centre. Custom built large storage box on the floor in the centre. Electric windows. JVC bluetooth stereo with USB port. Kill switch beside driver's seat. Windows have rain guards making it easy to leave the window open a little without getting wet. There are 3 D rings bolted to the ceiling behind the seats, which are great for attaching all kinds of things in the van.
Bed with pillows behind seats made of high density quality foam squabs measures 1.8m x 1.35m - enough room for two. Bed comes with super heavy, super thick huge oversized underlay blanket (can be used in winter as a normal blanket), two sheet sets and pillowcases, blankets and pillows, and two fluffy dressing gowns. D rings are bolted to the side ceiling on both sides of the bed, as well as two each side at the end of the bed – currently used for a fruit hammock.
Under bed storage - one locker under bed behind driver's seat - deep enough to hold spare blankets, sheets, etc. Centre locker under pillows holds the inverter and house battery. Cubby hole storage with bamboo box accessible from the side. Centre of bed has long storage right across. Foot end of bed has one storage locker (large) under on the driver's side, and another one (smaller) on the passenger side.
Toilet - Brand new, never used 10L toilet which slides out from under the bed at the foot in the centre.
Kitchen - U shaped kitchen at the end of the bed means you can cook inside by sitting on the end of the bed, or outside by lifting up the back door. Dometic 21L compressor fridge/freezer on driver's side and sink on passenger side. Centre cupboard of kitchen is accessed from either inside or outside. I used it for pots, pans, utensils, cups, glasses, etc. Smaller cupboard under the fridge/freezer I used for plastics, gladwrap, foil, etc. Larger cupboard beside the sink for food (two shelves). Two other cupboards are accessed from the rear - where the fridge/freezer is, there is a small cupboard for accessing the controls of the fridge/freezer, and storage of a gas cannister stove and brush and shovel (included). On the sink side, there is a cupboard housing the 25L fresh and 25L waste water containers. There is room to keep a few things on top.
Curtains: All windows except the windscreen have white black-out curtains which magnet to each window. Black-out fabric also keeps it warmer in colder climates. Windscreen has large foil cover made to fit around the rear vision mirror.
Decor: This van has been detailed inside with a theme of white and silver. All black-out curtains (white fabric) have hand-painted mandalas on every curtain in silver. The exterior cupboards at the back of the van have hand-painted white mandalas. The bamboo storage box at the front of the side door has been hand-painted with white mandalas, as has the large bamboo tray (for finding things in bed!). The ceiling has been decorated with silver fabric, covered with hand-painted white mandalas. In the centre of the ceiling is a large UV reactive painting by Auckland artist Liquid Slick, purchased for $460.
Extras: Comes with pots, pan, utensils, cutlery, pottery mugs for two, plates and bowls for two, glasses, chopping board, spare gas cannisters, portable LPG stove and case, adjustable ironing board (makes the best table outside under the canopy), two camping chairs, two person tent (also decorated with a mandala), tiny tarpaulin, two dressing gowns, mallet, pegs, large woven plastic ground mat (2.8m x 2.8m), door mat, interior table (if not using bed), magnets, hanging clips, paperwork for the vehicle.
