Job Description

We’re on the lookout for two motivated couples or pairs to join us as live-in seasonal workers on our peony farm. This is a hands-on role where you’ll experience the full peony season – from the early prep work to the final flush of flowers.

📅 Season Dates
First pair starts: Early September
Second pair starts: Mid-September
End date: Late November to early December (varies each year)

🕒 Hours
The work follows a natural “bell curve” — slower at the start, building to busy peak weeks, and winding down again. As live-in staff, you’ll be prioritised for consistent work across the season.

🌸 What You’ll Be Doing
Live-in workers are part of our core team, and we rely on your help across all areas:

Picking flowers in the paddocks
Grading and sorting peonies
Boxing orders for dispatch
General farm help as needed

This is a physical role involving a lot of walking and being on your feet. You’ll work both indoors and outdoors and must be ready to dress for all weather conditions.

👩‍🌾 Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous experience – we’ll show you the ropes. What’s more important is that you:

Have a good level of physical fitness
Enjoy working outdoors
Are willing to muck in and work hard during the busy stretch
Have a team-first attitude and a positive outlook
Can bring respectful, friendly vibes to a shared living environment
Are comfortable around customers, even if the main roles aren’t customer-facing

🏡 Live-In Setup
“Cost” for the position is 20/hours a week – hours on top of that get paid.
In exchange for 20 hours of work per week per person, we provide:

A private room with a double bed and ensuite or bathroom
3 meals per day on the days you work
Access to staff flower and coffee discounts (onsite coffee cart)
Additional hours paid at minimum wage on a casual contract

There’s public transport nearby (bus stop 900m away), but your own vehicle is handy for days off or exploring the area. Use of farm vehicles isn’t included.
