Job Description

Homewood Storeroom – Rural Café Restaurant located in the Wairarapa, 3 hours drive from Wellington

Positions Available:
1. Kitchen Staff
2. Front of House (FOH) / Barista

We’re on the lookout for skilled and experienced hospitality pros to join our passionate, close-knit team for the peak summer season (November 2025 – February/March 2026). If you’re looking to experience a unique part of the country that’s off the beaten path, this is your chance!

Kitchen Staff Role

This is a hands-on role supporting our chef with:
• Plating and prep work during busy services
• Baking for our cabinet selection
• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and helping with inventory
• Potential to take creative lead on a menu item if you’re keen
• May be asked to step into head chef duties when needed

You’ll need:
✔ Prior experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
✔ Good food safety knowledge
✔ Confidence working independently and as part of a team
✔ Availability to work through the Christmas–New Year period

Front of House / Barista Role

We’re after someone confident and personable with:
• Solid barista experience and the ability to make a range of beverages
• Experience in table service and using a POS system
• A team-focused attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed, including some basic food prep and dishes in back of house

You’ll need:
✔ A friendly, professional demeanor
✔ Experience in a busy café or hospitality setting
✔ Flexibility and reliability over the summer season

Both roles require:
• Availability November 2025 to February/March 2026
• Must be available over the Christmas/ New Year period
• A proactive and adaptable approach; you may be asked to step up into key roles during staff absences
• Bonus if you’ve got a green thumb, you’ll have the chance to support in our garden when the café is quiet! Our café is situated on a working farm, with a garden that supplies many herbs and veges that we use in our menu.
