Job Description
The Sewing Repair Technician Team Member is responsible for the repair, alteration, and maintenance of customer workwear garments and other items to meet company standards for quality, service, and presentation. The role involves the use of industrial sewing equipment and requires attention to detail and time management.
The role is 35-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Starting payrate is 26 + 8% annual leave per hour.
Accommodation can be arranged and there is the opportunity for sponsorship for a work visa (after 3 months) if you want.
Full training with be provided but all applicants should be experience in:
– Repairing/patching holes and trips
– Replacing zips and buttons
– Lengthening and shortening sleeves and trouser legs
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Setting up industrial sewing machines with appropriate needles, tread and bobbins for each repair item.
• Perform garment repairs, patching, and alterations on workwear and other items using industrial sewing machines.
• Log in to the Repairers app and scan each repair item into the Apparelmaster system.
• Inspect and assess garments for repair or alteration requirements.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency in line with company quality standards.
• Ensure that work areas, including machinery, are kept clean, tidy, and well-maintained.
• Complete assigned tasks within the required timeframes.
• Support operational needs in other production areas as reasonably required by management. This is in line with our ‘Team’ value -Together we achieve.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
QUALITY:
1. Delivery of quality alterations and repairs.
2. Ensure all sewing repairs meet our quality and safety standards.
3. Participating actively and learn from performance feedback sessions.
4. Assist in monitoring the development of systems and methods in order to improve service and profitability.
5. Carry out duties as requested by Inglewood Production Manager, Production Coach and Stores and Repairs Team Leader.
6. Participate actively as part of the Production team, taking responsibility for your team activities, outcomes and KPI’s.
7. Ensuring all activities meet commercial, legal and company safety performance requirements.
8. Communicating effectively with others, actively listening and taking account of different ideas and viewpoints.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
1. Ensure the safety of the team and the reputation of the business are safeguarded through a proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace.
2. All accidents, injuries, incidents and hazards are reported to the Production Manager within 24 hours.
3. All accident investigations and corrective actions are performed and documented.
4. A safe working environment is maintained by ensuring all legal responsibilities under the Safe At Work Act 2015 are met by adopting a pro-active approach to identify and manage hazards in the workplace.
5. All work duties are carried out in accordance with safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
ADMINISTRATION
1. Ensure that all administration documentation (Data Entry or Paper) for the department is completed legibly, accurately and on time.
2. Ask questions when unsure.
CLOTHING/GROOMING
1. Uniform will be supplied.
2. Appearance is to be tidy, well-groomed, and hygienic.
3. There may be some occasions where additional safety clothing or PPE may be required to be worn.
