Job Description

KAIKOURA – animal care, housekeeping, DIY, projects, gardening.

A voluntary exchange = one or two positions (PLUS PAID SALARY) – starting mid-October.

80+ animals to look after, six unusual rental units to clean (yurt, tipi, train carriage, etc), large vegetable garden (you can enjoy what we all produce), DIY and projects.
On-site private accommodation included (two private double bedrooms, or single shepherd hut) – with: laundry, heating, and electricity + living-basics (soaps, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, etc), staff shared: Shower-room, kitchen, and common room (with sofa, large TV, blu-ray, surround system). Free wi-fi.

Animal care & gardening = you volunteer 4 hours/day for 6 days – so you get one day off per week (more time off can be arranged).
Housekeeping & DIY = PAID hours, if you have WHV, IRD, bank account. These hours are up to 50% of every working day, depending on accommodation bookings, check-outs, weather, projects, etc. PLUS more PAID hours if you cover for other staff taking days off.

Volunteers receive $70/week each cash allowance for food, topped up by free on-site food. Increases to $100 after four weeks.
Long term preferred, one month minimum.

Location = 1km from river walk/cycle route, 3km from beach, 4km from Kaikoura town centre, 4km from mountains (so spectacular views).
