About Us: We are a small, growing, family-run business dedicated to sharing the wonders of the cosmos with our guests in stunning Akaroa, just 90-minutes from Christchurch. We offer unique stargazing tours, as well as inspiring daytime experiences like sungazing and virtual stargazing, aiming to inspire a deeper appreciation for astronomy and our place in the universe.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an energetic and knowledgeable Casual Daytime Tour Guide to run our unique range of daytime experiences. If you have a passion for astronomy and enjoy engaging with people, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

Lead and conduct the Sungazing Tour, ensuring safe and educational observation of the Sun.

Present our Solar System Tour, accurately incorporating local Māori astronomy and navigation content.

Facilitate and run the engaging Indoor Digital Tour sessions.

Inspire awe and wonder in our guests, providing excellent customer service.

Assist with customer inquiries, bookings, and sales during shifts at our shop location.

We’re Looking For:

Astronomy Knowledge is required. You must have a sound understanding of astronomy and physics.

Previous guiding, public speaking, or teaching experience is welcomed and highly valued.

Full Driver’s License (essential).

Own reliable car (preferred) for travel to tour locations.
