Silver Fern Farms is one of New Zealand’s largest food companies. We’ve been here since 1948, and we’re still farmer-owned at heart, working with around 16,000 Kiwi farmers.

Our Takapau site is one of 14 food processing sites across New Zealand. The lamb and veal we handle here ends up on plates in more than 60 countries.

Our seasonal Team Member roles are entry level and need no experience. You’ll get on-the-job training, and once you’ve completed it, you’ll earn close to $30 an hour, with overtime on top when it’s busy. From there you can build a career towards skilled knife roles or quality control, health and safety, or leadership.

Takapau runs on teamwork. You’ll be shown the ropes by people who know the job, with a crew that has your back. Gear is provided, and there’s meat on site at mates’ rates to nourish your whānau.

We’re an easy drive from Waipukurau, Waipawa, Ōtāne, Norsewood and Dannevirke.
