Silver Fern Farms is one of New Zealand’s largest food companies. We’ve been here since 1948, and we’re still farmer-owned at heart, working with around 16,000 Kiwi farmers.

Our Finegand site is 5 mins from Balclutha and is one of 14 food processing sites across New Zealand. The beef and lamb we handle here ends up on plates in more than 60 countries.

Our seasonal Team Member roles are entry level and need no experience. You’ll get on-the-job training, and once you’ve completed it you’ll earn close to $30 an hour, with overtime on top when it’s busy. From there you can build a career towards skilled knife roles or quality control, health and safety, or leadership.

Finegand runs on teamwork. You’ll be shown the ropes by people who know the job, with a crew that has your back. Gear is provided, and there’s meat on site at mates’ rates to nourish your whānau.

We’re an easy drive from other towns like Milton, Kaitangata, Clinton and Owaka. Coming from Dunedin, about an hour north, our staff bus runs the route for most shifts. At $65 a week it’s a lot cheaper than driving yourself, and a much easier start to the day.
